Not everybody can afford the book, but I want anyone who is curious about what God says about the End of the Age, and the various human interpretations of what God has said to have some access. I would like to introduce a concept that will help us better understand the Book of Revelation. I am appealing to the faith-curious at this point more than Christians. Most of the Bible is written in what I would call the “natural’’ setting. Meaning, primarily, the way the average person would understand events. On rare occasions, within the “natural” setting, God pulls back the curtain into the “spiritual” setting. As an example, in the 10th chapter of Daniel, there is a scene in the natural setting of Daniel praying to God. God switches the view from the “natural” setting to the “spiritual.” God allows us to see an angel dispatched in response to Daniel’s prayer, but a demonic angel blocks this (good) angel for 21 days. God sends the Archangel Michael to help the angel assigned to help Daniel, and the angel completes his mission to Daniel. Most of the time, in the Bible, we do not see what is happening in the “spiritual” world (God, Satan, angels, and demons), only the “natural.” I would like to suggest that God gave Jesus the book of Revelation from the “spiritual” perspective rather than the “natural.” Christians call this view “Spiritual Warfare,” this is a Bible verse that summarizes that view: “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.” (Ephesians 6:12 Amplified version/ paraphrase) Changing our perspective, if this view is right, will make understanding the book of Revelation much easier. There are many instances where I will be able to convincingly demonstrate that many of the symbols are spiritual, either angelic or demonic. We are observing our struggle/story in a way we are not accustomed to. We are seeing this last piece of human history from God’s point of view, and not ours! It is an upside-down view of the way we normally understand things. Also, it is noteworthy to point out that out of all the books of the Bible, this is the only book God commands a blessing for both reading and hearing this book!
